Professor George Walker is a leading expert on international financial markets and financial regulation.
He is the Professor in International Financial Law at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies,
Queen Mary, University of London.
He is a Barrister and Member of the Honourable Society of Inner Temple. He is a Member of the New York Bar and was formerly a Solicitor in Scotland and England and Wales. He has been a Legal Consultant with the International Monetary Fund, Washington, DC and with Farrer & C0, Solicitors, London. He has worked with many national and international financial institutions.
He has authored or co-authored a large of number of books, articles and other papers in the banking and financial law areas including the co-editing of two major encyclopaedia. He has doctoral degrees from London and Oxford Universities and is a former Affiliate Lecturer in Law at Cambridge University and held visiting positions at Harvard University and subsequently at Georgetown Law School, Washington DC. He has been an external examiner at Hong Kong University and has been a Visiting Scholar at the Law School, University of Tokyo, Japan and at other major law schools.
Professor Walker has published over 400 pieces in the financial area which cover many of the core aspects of current legal and regulatory practice and interest. The purpose of the site is it to attempt to bring all of this together to provide an overview of the subject area as a whole.
